Finally after a few years I’ve redesigned this blog again. I really loved the previous minimalist theme, but it was time for a change. I’ve still got a bit of housekeeping to do (adding in some links and plugins that I’ve got to restyle, cleaning up some posts, etc.), but after months of debating various themes and tinkering with code—this is it.
For those who are curious, this is the Woo theme Cinch modded a bit. I have never purchased a theme for a personal blog before, but after working with Woo themes on a few work projects I fell in love with them. Their themes are top-notch and very customizable, and their support forum is one of the best I have ever encountered. When I saw they were having a 5-for-1 sale on Cyber Monday, I was in.
One day I’d like to create a logo for this site, but seeing as how I basically suck ass at graphic design that is going to take quite a bit of brainpower and creativity. And beer. Lots of beer.

Let’s count the offenses in this flyer, seen at Nashville State Community College outside of my programming class:
1. LADIES? Really? Nothing says “We take you seriously” like “ladies.” How about for your next flyer you say “gals” or “women folk.”
2. WTF does Flint have to do with technology?
3. “Future ladies”? Is this aimed at babies? Or fetuses? Or maybe females who are in finishing school learning how to be ladies in the future, but they just aren’t quite there yet?
4. How can you expect anyone to take you seriously, flyer-maker, if you were only able to fit four fonts onto this thing? Come on, you can do better.
Maybe instead of naming your group after some shitty town in Michigan where technology, in the form of the auto industry, made its mass exodus years ago, you could have focused your efforts on making a flyer that doesn’t vomit random fonts all over the page and actually explains what your group does and why anyone should attend without marginalizing these future women and their role in technology.

I saw a post about this on Lamebook and decided to try it out for myself. Apparently getting from Nashville to China involves driving my car across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, where I then ditch the water-car and kayak my ass over to China.
Thanks for the tips, Google!

If you’ve been scouring the Internet and refreshing your saved “white iPhone 4″ search on Twitter for the past week desperate for news on what the fuck is going on with the mysterious lack of the white iPhone 4*, freak out no more: Apple has finally released a statement:
White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
I love how they note the black model is more popular. Well no shit, Sherlock. It is the only model available. I’m no statistician, but I don’t think you can accurately judge the popularity of two things if only one of them is able to be purchased.
Oh, but Apple I can’t stay mad at you, so I’ll be waiting with bated breath to hear when exactly it will be available. I’m kind of anxious because I’ll be visiting my sister for a couple of days in late July, but I suppose after waiting an extra month for the phone it won’t kill me to wait another day or two.
Let’s just hope I don’t have to wait in line at 5 a.m. to get it.
*What, that’s just me?

So I haven’t really been posting here much lately, but it’s not because I haven’t had anything to say. It’s twofold, really: I haven’t had much time, and I’m actually in the process of moving this blog to a new domain.
You might remember a few months ago I was asking for opinions on .net domains… well, I finally decided that while I am cool with (actually, I like it) people calling me Meg in real life, it just feels weird to refer to myself as such, especially online.
So I secured MeganMorris.net a while back (don’t get too excited; there’s nothing there yet), and have been working on moving this blog over there. The plan was to build out the entire site and relaunch all at once, but handcoding that shit takes time. Maybe I’ll get to it eventually with a minimalist design that totally looks like I wasn’t just lazy. Maybe.
Anyway, if you are interested in the new blog location—stay tuned! (If not, well, then never mind.)

Two TweetUps in one week? For a usual hermit like me, this was a fun change of pace. Trace and I organized the First Ever Rutherford County TweetUp at Toot’s Smyrna (who were gracious hosts), and I got to catch up with some tweeters I hadn’t seen in a long time as well as meet a few new (and awesome) ones.
See all of the pictures from the TweetUp.

After three years of being on Twitter, I finally went to my first TweetUp. Held at Bobbie’s Dairy Dip in Nashville at lunchtime, it was great to finally meet in-person so many of the 100×100 avatars I’ve been talking to for so long online.

I thought I had uploaded this back on the 12th, but apparently not.
These are the paths created by my mouse as I worked throughout the day. The larger, darker spots are where my mouse rested. I was doing some coding that day, and when I work in TextMate I have its window on the right side of my screen, which would explain why the mouse was resting often near the left/center of the screen.
Also, that big blob toward the left apparently means I ate lunch that day. For once.

My soon-to-be brother-in-law sent me this clock last week—is it not freaking perfect for me? He found a guy on Etsy who has a shop called Stuff Made From Stuff, mainly consisting of clocks made from old Macs or other computer parts.
For those of you reading this who might not be Mac-obsessed, this is the actual front of an old PowerMac G4, turned into a clock. The clock actually keeps time, but I turned it off last night after learning that Link was trying to climb the wall and catch the ticking red second hand. I’ll have to turn it on again after he forgets that it’s there.
Anyway, it’s hanging up in our kitchen by the door to give it a prominent view. I love wacky art, but I love wacky art made from Apple products even more. So thanks, Katie and Junnhi!
